Town of Stonington Ordinance Re: Removal of Animal Waste (adopted September 5, 2000, effective September 23, 2000)
Anyone owning, keeping, walking, or in control of a dog or other animal must remove all feces the animal leaves on another person's private property, condominium common elements, or public property, including parks, beaches, and school grounds, before leaving the immediate area. Guide dogs accompanying a blind person are exempt. The fine is $35 per violation. The ordinance is posted without a code section number.
CGS Sec. 22-364 (state law): dogs roaming at large
Connecticut state law says no owner or keeper may let a dog roam at large on another person's land or on a public highway when it is not under the owner's control. A violation is an infraction. This statute is about control, not waste pickup. CGS 22-364a covers releasing a domestic animal that damages another person's property and is not a pet waste rule either.
Why it matters here
