Griswold Code Chapter 74, Section 74-8(J): pets in town parks
In town parks, dogs and cats are allowed only when held under control on a leash, and everyone who brings a pet into a park must clean up after it. No pets are allowed on any beach, swimming area, playing field or playground. Under Section 74-11, a violation of the park article carries a fine of up to $90.
Connecticut General Statutes Sec. 22-364 (dogs roaming at large)
State law says no owner or keeper may let a dog roam at large on another person's land or on a public highway when it is not under the owner's control. A violation is an infraction. Chapter 435 of the statutes has no general statewide dog waste pick-up rule; Sec. 22-364a covers intentional or reckless release of a domestic animal that causes property damage over $100.
Leash and control
Griswold Code Section 74-8(J) requires dogs and cats in town parks to be held under control by a leash. No town-wide leash ordinance was found; the state roaming-at-large law (CGS 22-364) applies elsewhere.
Why it matters here
